BADOG – Bakewell & District Organic Gardeners was a Garden organic local group which met monthly from 2007-2014. The aim of the group was simple, to encourage and support organic gardening in the Derbyshire Dales.
When the Covod-19 pandemic started it became obvious that food supplies would be disrupted with supermarket shelves stripped bare and shortages of fresh produce within a few days of lock down.
The result was an enormous increase in people growing their own food. What it showed was the realisation that we must get back to being more self-sufficient as individuals and as a nation. We need to learn, or re-learn, the skills of previous generations.
It’s time to relaunch BADOG to help and support those wanting to grow their own whatever their previous experience. You do not need an allotment; a garden can provide a lot of food if you use the right techniques. If you have only a small space, we will show you how to make container gardens.
We will only be online for now but if there is enough interest there will be local meetings and workshops when it is safe.
Although based in Derbyshire anybody anywhere can join us online.
